Strategic Alignment in the Age of AI

PANEL

Thursday, June 11
11 am - 12 pm

Saal 1

With the rapid spread of new technologies in the audiovisual industry, decision-makers are faced with a key question: How is the rise of AI-powered tools changing the strategic landscape of the film and television industry? And what does this mean for broadcasters and production companies?

Rather than focusing on individual technologies, the discussion turns to the broader implications for how companies organize themselves, develop new workflows, and position their business models in the wake of this technological shift. An important perspective comes from the BBC’s Research and Development department, where communication within the public broadcaster as well as with other stakeholders is of central importance for developing new technologies that meet the demands of modern productions while efficiently harnessing innovation.

At the same time, production companies such as UFA are already experimenting with AI-powered tools and processes that significantly influence internal workflows, production pipelines, and the strategic direction of the organizations.

The panel will examine the extent to which the current wave of AI innovation could drive a broader transformation of the industry, and what this means for broadcasters, streamers, and production companies in terms of their medium- and long-term planning regarding research, technology development, experimentation, and implementation.
